New lift on Alfred-Desrochers

The big day has arrived, the inauguration of our new quadruple lift, the Alfred-Desrochers chair! We were all impatiently waiting for it, but it’s now the time to get on board and rediscover this mythical area of the mountain !

The lift inaugurated in 1965, in the presence of Mr. Alfred DesRochers himself, needed a breath of fresh air to allow skiers to make the most of this popular hillside!

We are very happy to be able to complete this major change that is long awaited by our customers, which is part of several improvements that the Corporation wishes to carry out in the coming years.

The new Doppelmayr fixed quadruple lift represents an investment of 4.5 million dollars which will clearly enhance the practice of skiers on this mythical hillside!

From a double chairlift to a quadruple, we increase boarding capacity by around 60%, in addition to being faster and more efficient! The chairlift, which is mainly sheltered from the wind on this side of the mountain, will also have an easy-to-use boarding mat.

Thanks to the characteristics of the hillside, very popular with the family clientele, beginner and intermediate, we can easily relieve congestion on the Giroux North hillside and allow a better circulation of the skiers on this slope.

Skiers and snowboarders will also be happy to learn that the lift will also be open during the week!

The Corporation has retained the services of the environmental and water management consulting firm, RAPPEL, to supervise the environmental management of the work that will be carried out in the mountain in order to conserve our precious landscape that surrounds us.

Please note that the work has already started on the hillside.
