Projet Grand Paysage

An immersive experience where ecological art, the mountain and biodiversity come together.

Inspired by the natural richness of our region, the Grand Paysage project takes flight this summer on the La Pente Douce ski trail to create Quebec's largest ecological art installation. Designed as a living ecosystem in collaboration with the David Suzuki Foundation and Espace pour la vie, this immersive and educational experience invites you to discover local biodiversity while taking in breathtaking mountain views.

  1. Grand paysage oasis de depart

The Starting Oasis

The journey begins at the heart of a vibrant ecological corridor teeming with life. Created through the involvement of our community and horticulture experts, this space invites you to slow down and connect deeply with the mountain landscape.

  1. Grand paysage Oeuf

The Egg

Discover the first artistic stop, featuring a stunning minimalist rock sculpture representing a butterfly egg. Its smooth, white, polished surface invites touch and contemplation, symbolizing the beginning of life and the fragility of nature as it awakens.

  1. Grand paysage chenille

The Caterpillar

Let the adventure begin! Designed to amaze both children and adults, this stage takes the form of an impressive, colorful slide structure integrated into the mountain slope. It offers an interactive and playful way to explore the Monarch's growth and discovery stage.

  1. A VENIR 1

The Chrysalis

Take a moment to pause in this sculptural gathering space inspired by the natural geometry of a suspended cocoon. This laser-cut architectural dome provides a shaded area to relax, refresh and reconnect with nature. A true contemplative space, perfect for listening to the sounds of the mountain and experiencing your own inner transformation.

  1. Grand paysage Papillon

The Butterfly

The cycle comes full circle with the project's signature installation: the giant swing sculpture. As you take a seat on these suspended swings, you'll experience a moment of moving contemplation, recreating the feeling of lightness, freedom and the butterfly's final flight, all while taking in the breathtaking panorama of Mont-Orford.

A Minimal Footprint for Maximum Impact

True to the rigorous standards of a national park and sustainable tourism goals for 2030, every installation within the Grand Paysage trail has been designed by the teams at Conscience urbaine and Conscience régionale to preserve the natural harmony of the site:

  • Sustainable materials and longevity: Designed to last 20 years, the structures combine ultra-durable and eco-responsible materials, such as recycled HDPE (Soleno) for the caterpillar, architectural aluminum and local cedar for the chrysalis.
  • Soil preservation: No permanent concrete foundations are poured into the mountain. The artworks rest on granular foundations, placed concrete blocks or reversible pile systems, ensuring that no long-term damage is caused to the surrounding ecosystems.
  • Seasonal structures: Designed as a modular concept, the installations simplify assembly and dismantling to adapt to the mountain’s natural cycles and allow, if needed, the site to be restored to its 100% natural state.
