An immersive experience where ecological art, the mountain and biodiversity come together.
Developed in collaboration by Mont-Orford and Conscience urbaine, Grand Paysage is an art and ecology project that offers a new way to discover the mountain and its biodiversity. The project also benefits from the collaboration of partners such as the David Suzuki Foundation and Espace pour la vie, who contribute to enriching its ecological and educational dimensions.

Let our pink biodiversity islands guide your way as you explore these stops, thoughtfully designed to minimize environmental impact while maximizing your sensory experience:
The Starting Oasis
The journey begins at the heart of an ecological corridor teeming with life. Designed by landscape experts with the aim of engaging the community and the Horticulture School, this space invites you to slow down and connect with the surrounding mountain landscape.
The Egg
Discover the first artistic stop, featuring a stunning minimalist rock sculpture representing a butterfly egg. Its smooth, white, polished surface invites touch and contemplation, symbolizing the beginning of life and the fragility of nature as it awakens.
The Caterpillar
Time to get moving! Designed to delight visitors of all ages, this stage takes the form of an imposing slide structure in vibrant colors inspired by those of the monarch caterpillar, seamlessly integrated into the mountain slope. It offers a fun and interactive way to explore this stage of the monarch’s growth and discovery.
The Chrysalis
Take a pause in this sculptural agora inspired by the shape of a suspended chrysalis. Designed as a space for rest and contemplation, it invites you to slow down, listen to the sounds of the mountain and experience a moment of transformation at the heart of the landscape.
The Butterfly
The cycle comes full circle with the project's signature installation: the giant swing sculpture. As you take a seat on these suspended swings, you'll experience a moment of moving contemplation, recreating the feeling of lightness, freedom and the butterfly's final flight, all while taking in the breathtaking panorama of Mont-Orford.
A Minimal Footprint for Maximum Impact
l’harmonie naturelle du site :
True to the rigorous standards of a national park and the principles of sustainable tourism for 2030, the design and artistic direction of the Grand Paysage installations are led by the teams at Conscience urbaine and Conscience régionale, with careful consideration for the site’s natural harmony:
- Sustainable materials and longevity: Designed for a 20-year lifespan, the structures prioritize durable, long-lasting materials, including recycled HDPE (Soleno), used for the caterpillar.
- Soil preservation: No permanent concrete foundations are poured into the mountain. The installations are supported by granular foundations, placed concrete blocks, or reversible pile systems, thereby minimizing permanent impacts on the soil and ecosystems.
- Seasonal structures: Designed as a modular concept, the installations simplify assembly and dismantling to adapt to the mountain’s natural cycles and allow, if needed, the site to be restored to its 100% natural state.
